Why do I need to always have the latest firmware on my NETGEAR product?
Having the latest firmware will help increase the stability, functionality and performance of your product. The new and most up-to-date firmware will likely correct issues as well as potentially add new and improved features to the product.
How do I get the latest firmware?
During installation via the Web Genie, Router looks on the web for the latest firmware and automatically installs it. In addition, the FW on the GUI also support auto firmware upgrade. The firmware will check the latest FW on web site every time when you login the GUI.
How to do firmware upgrade manually?
Note: Do not upgrade the firmware using a wireless connection. Please perform firmware upgrade with “wired” or Ethernet connection only.
- Write down all the settings which you changed from the default values, since you may need to reenter them manually.
- Download the firmware version you want to upgrade to your Router, put the firmware at convenient place such as your desktop.
- Log in to the router using a Web browser. The URL is http://www.routerlogin.net.
- Click ADVANCED tab and select Administration and click Firmware Upgrade.
- Click Browse and find the file you just downloaded.
- Click Upload. Do not interrupt the upgrade while the router does this step.
