Why do I need to always have the latest firmware on my NETGEAR product?
Having the latest firmware will help increase the stability, functionality and performance of your product. The new and most up-to-date firmware will likely correct issues as well as potentially add new and improved features to the product.
How do I get the latest firmware?
When you set up your router and are connected to the Internet, the router automatically checks for you to see if newer firmware is available. In addition, the router supports automatic firmware upgrades. The router checks for updated firmware and alerts you if an update is available.How do I manually upgrade the R6100 WiFi Router's firmware?
Note: Do not upgrade the firmware using a wireless connection. Please perform the firmware upgrade with a "wired" or Ethernet connection only.
- Write down all the settings which you changed from the default values, since you may need to reenter them manually.
- Download the firmware version you want to upgrade to your R6100 WiFi Router, put this firmware at convenient place such as your desktop.
- Log in to the router using a web browser.
The URL is http://www.routerlogin.net.- Select ADVANCED > Administration > Firmware Upgrade.
- Click the Browse button and find the firmware file you just downloaded.
- Click the Upload button.
The router begin the upgrade.WARNING: To avoid the risk of corrupting the firmware, do not interrupt the upgrade. For example, do not close the browser, click a link, or load a new page. Do not turn off the router.
When the upload is complete, your router restarts. The upgrade process typically takes about one minute. Read the new firmware release notes to determine whether you need to reconfigure the router after upgrading.
