How to configure your NETGEAR router for Internet connection with NETGEAR genie
This will help you configure your NETGEAR DSL modem/router using the built-in NETGEAR genie.
- Connect the DSL port of the NETGEAR DSL modem router to the phone line, via the splitter, as shown in the diagram. Use an Ethernet cable to connect the computer to any of the LAN ports as shown in the diagram. Connect the NETGEAR DSL modem router to its power supply unit (PSU) (Not shown in the diagram) and wait about a minute for it to boot up :
Note: If you have an existing DSL modem or modem router, please remove it from your network.
- On the computer which is connected to the router, launch an internet browser (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, etc).
- Visit http://www.routerlogin.net. If http://www.routerlogin.net does not work, try the following:
- http://10.0.0.1
- You are prompted to enter a username and password. Enter the following default login credentials:
Note: username and password are both case sensitive
- Username: admin
- Password: password
Note: If the default login credentials do not work, you might have changed the admin password. If you cannot remember your new password, you must perform a factory reset to restore the router to its factory default settings.
- Your internet browser will automatically take you to the NETGEAR Genie Set-Up Screen. Select Yes and click Next to continue.
Note: If screen below does not show up, please click ADVANCED > Setup Wizard andSelect Yes and click Next.
- Select the Country and click on Next
- The Setup Wizard will detect the type of Internet connection.
- We will have provided you login details (username and password) to access our service. Type these details into the Login and Password boxes on this screen and click Next.
- The router will now apply these settings
- When completed, you can verify whether you are connected to the internet by clicking on Take me to Internet.
- In scenarios where the configuration fails, please contact us for obtaining the correct login credentials and click Try again to complete the set up.
