Homes that don’t make a lot of outgoing calls
Homes that make a lot of outgoing calls to mobiles, interstate, and international numbers
When THE NBN is rolled out, you’ll have a certain amount of time before you are forced to migrate your existing services over, but don’t stress! NBN. Co will notify you how long you’ve got, and so will we. If your home isn’t NBN ready yet, you can still get an aconnect traditional phone line now, and we’ll be able to make the switch for you easily when the time comes.
It is unlikely. In most areas where the NBN is being installed, the existing copper wiring that carries you phone line will no longer work. In this case, you won’t have a choice but to switch to NBN Voice. But it isn’t as scary as it sounds! When the NBN starts removing the existing infrastructure, they will send you a letter to tell you how long you have to switch your service, and so will we!
You’ll have an Network Termination Device (NTD) installed in your home by an NBN. Co technician, and on this NTD there are ports (outlets) for your internet and your phone. If you only want a phone connection, the NOD has two yellow Voice (Uni-V) ports, and you’ll be able to plug in your old phone and start making calls as usual (once you’ve had your aconnect NBN Voice service activated, of course).
There are some cases where you will not have an NTD installed in your home, or it will not have the Voice (Uni-V) ports available (which is to do with the type of NBN that’s being rolled out). But there will still be options for your phone lines, so call an aconnect team member to find the best solution for your household.
